Finding freelance jobs

Anyone could refer freelance work to me, or any tips in doing so? I do not want work from freelancer.com or elance or odesk, or other websites. Thanks.

Hey Jia,

Consider building a client base by offering pro-bono work to a few nonprofit organizations in your local area. Always provide high quality services and showcase the work on your website and/or portfolio. Satisfied clients will always refer potential clients your way. The key is to have a lot of them.

Send an email newsletter or mass email - reach out to family, friends, students, or any business contacts and let them know you're available. The best referrals come from people who know you and can vouch for your skills.

For example, we're redesigning a website for a nonprofit organization that's obsessed with lighthouses. We were referred by an old coworker who's father is on the lighthouse board. So we were able to discover if the client's budget and timeline were a good fit. About 95% of our work comes from existing and past client referrals - so go forth and prosper!

thanks. great answer. (:
