Why teacher added class in the footer to reduce the image size? Why ID was not used in this situation?

this not a big deal u can use id as well as class in your html for designing maybe he want to use same css in other elements thats why he use class...if you link the video may we can gave you the correct reason for this...

Is a matter of choice and remember that ID are always unique so is better reserve them for a more proper use like anchor navigation or JavaScript by the other hand you can share a class with different elements.
