For anyone who is using this course end of 2021/2022 struggling with adding spark framework....

when adding spark to your Gradle dependencies, Gradle no longer uses 'compile' but 'implementation' or 'api'

So copy and paste - implementation "com.sparkjava:spark-core:2.9.3" into dependencies.

if anyone still struggling with adding spark framework you can add the below line in your build.Gradle

apply plugin: 'java-library'
