Forum: Is there a pdf with an in depth explanation about how this forum works?

Hi, I feel like a bit of an old fart trying to work out the forum. I thought I was very brave venturing on this. I love Treehouse so for that reason it's the one forum I am actually trying my hardest with, lol.

I don't understand why I keep getting an email about the same post I answered and helped someone out with by giving the right answer or achieving (unbelievably) best answer.

Am I suppose to do something further, so hence keep getting the reminders via email?

Not that I'm not grateful for my little victories, of html finally sinking in enough to help others.

OK Where is the embrarrassed face icon?

Welcome Samantha,

By default, you are "subscribed" to a thread you post in. Whenever anybody creates a response in that same thread, tags you, upvotes you, or marks your anwser as best, you get an email about it.

To stop it, in the thread itself, at the top right there is a button that says unsubscribe. That will stop the emails from that thread.

There is also a checkbox next to the post answer button at the bottom, you can uncheck to keep from getting emails about that thread from the get go.

Finally, in your account settings, you can choose what you want to get emails from, and what you do not.

You're free to use the forum as much or as little as you want. There is nothing further you have to do.

If you go to your account settings, you can change your email notification settings if you don't want to receive emails.

You can also unsubscribe from a post you answered.

The "notify me via email when someone responds" is automatically checked, you can uncheck it if you don't want emails.

If you'd like to stop receiving emails regarding site notifications you can manage that with in your account setting.

  1. Click the arrow above beside your avatar picture located in the upper right corner of this screen.
  2. Next, select account setting.
  3. In the navigation area on on the right side of the screen, choose Email Notifications.
  4. From here you can scroll down to Activity related to you, and uncheck any of those features you no longer want to receive emails regarding.

Don't forget to save changes!

For any help regarding the use of markdown within posts, you can use this post.

I think they should add a function : it checks if there's a new post before we send our message, could help ! Where can we ask this ?

Hey Antoine, I feel your pain. We're working on something to help people not step on each other's toes when answering questions. :)

Thank you Sean for your answer, if you're already working on it, that's cool !
