Forum Suggestion for Links

Something crossed my mind just now, and that's that whenever a user clicks on a link on the forum, he or she is redirected away from the form.

I might suggest that clicking on links should open up the page in a new tab (maybe adding target="_blank" to all markdown-ed links), that way the user can still read the post and not have to click back and forth. It's a small suggestion, but I think it's a practical one, especially when users post links to code in Codepen or JSFiddle. It saves the reader from having to click back and forth he or she wants to write a meaningful reply based off of what the previous user linked to.

Anybody else like this idea?

Looks like there are other people who agree

Also I'd suggest you use the feature request tag, as it's one of the most popular tags. I'd add in the forum tag to make it easier to find forum-related suggestions.

@JT -

Can you add the feature request tag, as it's one of the most popular tags on the forum, so it appears to be the tag that users of the forum have coalesced around.

Maybe add the forum tag as well, to make it easier to find forum-related suggestions.

I added those tags as you suggested, James! Thanks for the heads up! -- And I didn't know that this has been suggested before. :-/ Hopefully the issue continues to be taken under advisement assuming there's enough interest from the forum community.
