They give you: 2000MB Space, 100GB Traffic, PHP and MySQL

It's Free and yes No Banners or Ads, it's the best free hosting offer I've seen.

I personally love https://www.openshift.com/

It provides support for a ton of different back-end languages and teaches you valuable;e skills such as git.

It simply makes it easy to experiment with a lot of different things and that's great for learning and testing.
