Freelace : Wordpress to Ruby or Wordpress Devlopment

Hello Everyone,

We have website on Wordpress & IPboard forum, we want one Dashboard to maintain the site..

1) Is it possible to move it and build full community/social site on ruby on rail ? if yes then what will be approx budget i have to spend.

2) As i found WordPress very good with SEO, but same time a lot of company moving to Ruby, so is it going to be right move ?

3) or what if we move every thing to WordPress and develop custom plugins and theme as requirement.

our main section are: 1) Video Post (on wordpress), 2) Job listing (on wordpress), 3) Gallery/Portfolio (on IPboard) , 4) Store/Download (on IPboard), 5) Forum (on IPboard)

If yes then what will be approx budget i have to spend for Ruby on Rail or only WordPress development.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you...

Whether the site is in Ruby or PHP is irrelevant to your business needs. Switching to Ruby and recreating everything just because "you hear a lot of companies are moving to Ruby" doesn't make any sense at all. To clarify yout objectives: you want to completely recode your forum (and maybe your blog) so they share one custom backend?

yes one Dashboard, on Ruby on Rail or Wordpress

This is really not the right forum for this kind of thing but I have some experience with custom forum integrations so I'll attempt a brief answer:

  1. No don't switch to Ruby unless you have some very specific reason for doing so.
  2. Unless you want to get into a giant development project, your only real option for an integrated forum is to switch to BBpress.
  3. You need to get a quote from someone for a. customizing BBpress to suit the needs of your community based on your current IPB installation and b. migrating your forum data to the BBpress installation. This forum is not the place for getting those kinds of quotes.

The real answer is what you want is pretty complicated and it's probably not a good idea.

Thanks Aaron.. but i like to know is it possible to move every thing to ruby and is it best solution or we stick with PHP wordpress... for example teamtreehouse.com on ruby, twitter, github, Hulu, Yellow Pages etc

upgrading plugins and many PhP bugs in free WordPress plugins, ipboard takes lot of resource some time.. and both CMS are not connected.
