HI,
So i have my portfolio making static websites.
I know HTML/CSS and Bootstrap and responsive design, apart from the mobile nav, but i use bootstrap. If i would make a website with pure coding, i would just code it and add media queries my self, i woudnt create a grid .
Im learning PHP. I know simple stuff like how to get things from database and insert it from the code , user.
My design is well, i look for inspirations and i form a website form them . I choose colors from adobe kuler as well.
If i would have to do soemthing simple in photoshop, i probably would know how.
And some jQuery to like smooth parallex scrolling, only little effects like this . Or maybe thats the only one : d
I can make static websites, and if , i could add some PHP .
And one question, anothe rone is when i get a client, and he want a static website, is it ok if i put PHP? or it doesnt matter? of course i would put his date with php so its updated..
Im new to this : p
Any tips on how to freelance ? i watched the treehouse video. But aside from that.
And whad did you know when you started? when was your first client? how was it? did you get a fair price form it? how long did it take you to build your skill up and make e-commerce sites? what idi you use to advertise? or did you cold call?
No, i wont quite my job, im just about to get one : p but it would be nice to have some support form programming as wel, or rather websites. Even static, every penny counts since if in savings, theres barery anything as everything costs so much .. food, flat etc..

Courses Plus Student 11,888 PointsHere's my experience, One day a friend told me to design/code a wordpress theme for 200£, But i just knew a LITTLE about wordpress, I told him that i'm not ready to take project, he said try if you couldn't just tell me before weekend.
It was like a nightmare :D, because after a few days i told him okay i'll do it. he wanted me to do it in twenty days, so we chose a HTML theme and i started to convert it to wordpress ( i told him it will be so much faster if we convert html to wordpress ), It was actually my first time taking a project, i even didn't had HTML/CSS skills, not even PHP, only some basic stuff about them.
So i searched a lot around the web, watched wordpress courses in treehouse ( REALLY helped me a lot ), sometimes i even paused the treehouse video to add some code to the theme, i was doing it while i was learning... I finally did it as my first project, It took 2 months instead of 20 days, Because i got stuck in coding the blog page, coding dropdown menu and some other bugs, like two extra </div> in the footer that wouldn't let plugins works correctly. someday i even spent 10 hours watching tutorials and adding code to the theme.
I spent about $170 by myself for purchasing icons, plugins, some background image for the website, I just wanted to do it PERFECTLY, It took so much but it worth it.
Your first project matters A LOT, because it's the thing that will get you more projects and orders. and this happened to me. and it feels good when you have a great website in your portfolio. 2 weeks after i completed the project, my friend told me to create another wordpress theme for his friend, But i didn't take it because i wanted to improve my skills and i did Now i'm working at a company coding HTML/CSS/jQuery and also learning Android development + PHP beside it.
You don't need advertise, Just tell your friends about your skills, write on your twitter/facebook.
as you first project don't complain about money just do it. even for $50, it worth it , trust me. it worth it even you if do it for free :D, because you are doing a project, and if you did it perfectly then you can add it to portfolio and proud of yourself. it will bring you projects and order. your portfolio is your advertise.
I don't know if this helped you or not, i just wanted to share my story about the first freelancing project i've done. sorry for such english grammer :D Good luck
