Three very good choices of editors are Atom, Sublime and Notepad++. However, there are many more that may suit well your specific projects and/or working style. The best is you try them all and check which one fits you the best.

In order to download the files of any course and follow along, you must access the Teacher's Notes tabs, immediately below the video player and description, and one of the tabs there is called Downloads; clicking on it will oftentimes reveal a .zip folder with all the required files.
