From Wordpress to Ghost

Well, I made the switch this past week from Wordpress to Ghost. If this is your first time reading about Ghost, head over to https://www.ghost.org and find out what all the hype is about. At first I had a hard time locating a theme that would allow me to display my apps in a portfolio. Lucky for me I found one. The theme is called genius by Marcos Navarro. He does a awesome job on the support side as well.

What I like about Ghost -Simple, fast, and the Markdown is pretty sweet. It takes you back to the roots of html & css I really enjoyed that this week.

-You write in Markdown on the left, and you see an immediate preview of exactly what your post will look like in rendered HTML on the right.

What I don't like: -Limited plugins -Limited Themes -Limited everything!

lol, so it's really not that bad. But if you are looking to build a name for yourself Ghost could use some help. I know it's starting out as a blog platform but I think the future of Ghost is very bright!

Last but not least the Why: I was board with Wordpress and tired of all the heavy plugins, I wanted to try something new and fresh. Overall I am happy with the change...for now anyway.

Awesome! Glad to see you made the switch. It is still pretty limited in functionality, but it really is a very nice platform for creating blog content. My site is modified from the default Casper theme. I found it pretty easy to modify. Writing markdown on the left and having it automatically update and show a preview on the right is by far my favorite feature.

Ghost will be limited right now, it's about 3 months old! It's a very nice platform for blogging and that is what it will stay as. The devs have stated the whole reason for Ghost existing is that WP is moving away from blogging platform to quality CMS. Ghost is just filling the void WP is leaving. Ghost is a very very good platform for bloggers, people who don't know tech details. I for one will be using it for lightweight blogs.
