I have a WordPress site for a client who wants to accept donations and have people register for events (and pay). How would you recommend I do this?
I'm thinking that WooCommerce is too heavy for these requirements (plus I'm not selling items, and I'm not aware of WooCommerce accepting forms/events - although there may be add-ons for that). It seems Gravity Forms might be able to do this but I was looking for any other suggestions/advice. Maybe a plugin that exists specifically for this purpose.
The other requirement is that the payment method must support First Data Gateway.

Events Manager Pro might do what you need as a base. It's free to download via the WordPress repository but costs to upgrade to Pro and take payments, etc.
The only problem is it only currently supports 3 payment methods (none of which are First Data) but you may be able to develop for it.
Overall it's quite a good plugin but I would recommend you try it first to make sure it does what you need.
Hope that helps in some way
