GA - Web Design Intensive or MA - Learn to code in 12 weeks?

Hi All,

I am interested to know if anyone here has completed either of the intensive 12 week courses offered by Makers Academy or General Assembly? i am thinking of taking one of the courses in Jan 16 and wanted to get as much info as possible before I do. I would be grateful for your thoughts on the matter.

I attended General Assembly WDI 12 week course last year. It was great and I'm very happy that I put in so much time and worked hard to complete the course and the money I spent. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

About 4 months ago my older sister got "life lost" and I know she likes graffic design; so I told her about GA and went to an info session with her. She ended up taking the full-time UX/UXDI course and just completed it. She's satisfied as well.

With that being said, the outcome you have with this course and all the others like GA are dependent on what you put in. You need to work hard and put in lots of extra time to come out on top. If you like what you're doing its really easy to put in the time.

P.S. I have no past or present affiliation with General Assembly or any of its subsidiaries.

Hi Jared, thanks for the response.

You sound like exactly the person I was hoping to talk to because I am leaning towards the GA WDI as opposed to the MA course. Can I ask if you managed to secure a job as a junior dev after completing the course as that is my goal?

Yes. I basically got hired at the GA meet and greet they have with employers. All other classmates got hired within 2 months or less.

Thanks Jared, I appreciate your comments.

Hey bobcat, what made you lean toward GA vs MA?

Did you take the course in the end?

How did you find what learned in 3 months of the intensive course vs what could learn working 3 months full time on Team Treehouse, Lynda.com etc.?

I'm considering the MA course in London, but I've not really researched the GA one yet.
