getting confused...please help

getting confused with the logical operators in the if statement...

To add on to Andre's post.

Conditionals can be tricky.

The || stands for 'or' and can be re-written as such. This means that if either condition is true it will hit the true part of the if statement.

&& stand for 'and' and can be re-written as such as well. This means that both conditions need to be true in order for it to the the true part of the if.

Your Conditional Statement

if(($username!='') || ($role!="admin")){
echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administrator.";
}

Your statement is saying if the username is not equal to an empty string OR the role is not equal to admin.
