Getting know the internet - [Book recommendation]

Hello everyone!

I'd like to learn more about the internet. As a web developer I usually hear the words: "port, proxy, IP address, protocols, etc. Most of them are familiar, some of them are not and I've just realised if I needed to explain them to someone I am not sure I would be able to do that.

Could you recommend some books that explain the fundamentals a web developer should know about the internet and that's also relevant for todays state of the web.

Thank you for your answers in advance!

There are probably MOOC's and videos that are good, but the #1 resource that did it for me was this: http://www.tcpipguide.com/free/t_toc.htm

It's a pretty long read, so you can cherry pick as needed. He does a fantastic job of explaining things in an approachable way.

Thank you, I'll definitely give it a try!
