Getting list of files to show up on page from <input type=file>

How do I get a list of files show up on the page itself from

<input type="file" multiple="multiple" id="fileInput">

Is there an easy to work with plugin that I can use?

Browsers are designed to prevent access to local files.

The file input is an exception, but the files only become visible when the user clicks the "choose" button.

Posting to the forum is only allowed for members with active accounts.
