Getting my first freelance project

I have recently started putting myself out on freelance websites such as PeaoplePerHour and just this morning I received an email from someone who was interested in my skills. They have asked to see examples of my work but currently I don't have anything online yet. I've created various little projects such as an expanding header and a hidden navigation but not a full website yet.

Is there a way to present this work ? Or do I need to create and host a full portfolio website first?

I believe that you can start doing your own projects as a blog can serve as a portfolio, you will need hosting for that.

You can create some "Pretend Projects". When I started out myself I also had no portfolio. Try to create some imaginary companies and make a websites for them. I like to think of companies from various industries and create Pretend Projects. This way I have been able to learn and improve my skills and attract clients. People per hour can get very competitive. Make sure your have something to show. Good Luck.

You can offer to create project for free, if you want. Maybe it is a good way to start creating your portfolio.
