JavaScript

getUserMedia() alternative?

Are there any alternatives to JavaScript's getUserMedia()?

1 Answer

Farouk: I'm not finding any pure JavaScript alternatives, but I did find this HTML5 Webcam Image Capture Library with Flash Fallback on GitHub. It uses getUserMedia when allowed, then falls back on Flash if the browser no longer supports getUserMedia. Hope that helps.

I also ran across this blog post by Treehouse JavaScript instructor Andrew...where he references a Google Hangouts-style app that looks like it's built around WebRTC. I don't know anything about it, but it might be worth a look.
