Git vs GitHub desktop App
What's the difference between using git in the console if the GitHub app does the same thing in a more convenient way ?

Hi Azzie Fuzzie
While the GUI (app) may be okay for some simple day-to-day quick operations, the CLI (console) is much more powerful and flexible. And, yes it may seem more convenient, but it's actually quite the opposite.
You will find the app is much slower and more cumbersome than the console, but any type of console commands will be more powerful and more precise than a Graphic Interface. Look at Node.js and npm.
To further understand the differences and benefits of the Command Line, just run a Google search for
git command line vs gui
