iOS Object-Oriented Swift Complex Data Structures Adding Instance Methods

Given the struct below in the editor, we want to add a method that returns the person’s full name. Declare a method name

i need help on this task guys

structs.swift
struct Person {
    let firstName: String
    let lastName: String
}
  func fullName() -> [String] {
    let name = "\(firstName) \(lastName)"

    return [name]
  }
  }

1 Answer

I assume you are having trouble with the first part of the challenge. There are several issues with your answer:

  1. The fullName method needs to be declared inside of the Person struct.
  2. There is no need to put the return type within brackets.
  3. You do not need to create an additional constant to return, just return firstName and Lastname as a combined String.
struct Person {
    let firstName: String
    let lastName: String

  func fullName() -> String {

    return "\(firstName) \(lastName)"
  }
}

let aPerson = Person(firstName: "John", lastName: "Smith")
let myFullName = aPerson.fullName()
