Google Nexus 5 best device for Android development at the moment?

Hi,

I'm planning on buying a Google Nexus 5 for Android app development within the next few days. Is this a sensible choice or are there alternatives that will make more sense for the aforementioned purpose?

I would say that's the easy choice, given that Nexus 5 is maybe the best pure Android device out there. On the other hand, this is a modern phone you should also have something a bit older to make sure you apps also run in it(lets say a phone with android 4.0). You can always emulate it, but there's nothing better than testing in a real phone

I guess you could get a cheap samsung galaxy s2 or htc rezound. You can look up on ebay for used phones.
