Got completely lost in latest code challenges.

Hi, I have been doing Treehouse for a few months now and everything has been going great, feel I am learning loads and brushing up on skills etc, however something has gone very wrong and I am not sure if I have skipped something or should have done something else 1st before under taking the latest project "Build an Interactive Website" I started on the "Introduction to jQuery" got in to the code challenges and what they are asking to do has not been covered on any the video's before them, in fact the 1st one I had to look up the terms on Google to work it out and the last one, I basically cheated and cheating is not going to learn me anything so I stopped so I could review what has gone wrong and I can't figure out how I am I meant to learn the jQuery stuff if it's not being taught the way the other stuff was taught, aka you watch a video, learn and try it yourself.

Any tips on what I should be doing, for jQuery do I need to get a book or go learn something else before doing this section?

Thanks.

Are you doing a Learning Adventure ?

No I am just doing what is next on Projects or Deep Dives, well Deep Dives is showing CSS Foundations since they updated it, as I done the last one I thought I would leave doing the updated one until I got further into the programming stuff.

So choices for me are:

Projects

WEBSITES ā€¢ ADVANCED Build an Interactive Website

PROGRAMMING ā€¢ BEGINNER Build a Simple Ruby on Rails Application

Deep Dives

COLLECTION CSS Foundations

COLLECTION Database Foundations

And it's "Build an Interactive Website" that I am stuck on, after having no issues with any of the other ones I have done to date, no guidance to say if you should do something else first before it, I am now thinking maybe "JavaScript Foundations" in the Deep Dives before going back to "Build an Interactive Website".

Yeah would recommend doing a Learning adventure on Whatever you want to learn Web Design, or Development because it gives you all the lessons in order and and gives you all he necessary skills to become a Web Designer (Or whatever you chose ) and you can still join one without losing your progress, and that way you wont get lost.

Also another reason I would do a Learning Adventure is because some of the questions in code challenges might be based on something you supposably studied before.

i can probably back up Pablos advice here . I have been doing the PHP developer learning adventure and have just started on the jquery stuff and Im finding that I understand it all without problem so you might want to try switching to a learning adventure if you have the time.

Yeah I'm kind of in the same boat as Clarke - I was fine in all the challenges up until that point but just started writing random things in hoping to get the right string. Admittedly I've taken a little time off and revisited the section but I remember when I encountered it before I had the same problem.

I'm guessing by this point the team are expecting us to be a little more savvy but its when I run into things like this that I get a little frustrated and start losing my momentum. How does everyone else deal with this?
