Grid Framework or Homemade Grid?

Hi, does anyone have any advice or a rule of thumb for when it may be best to use your own simple grid like Guil created or to use a framework like http://susy.oddbird.net/ ?

Before I watched the videos I always thought creating my own grid system would be too complicated and I've used Bootstrap before but for some things it seemed to be overkill. Foundation and Susy I haven't gotten around to trying yet.

I guess I'm just wondering because using your own seems so simple after watching this but on larger or more complicated projects maybe there are pitfalls that come with it as well...

Thanks!

I recommend try making your own grid system and after you feel comfortable you should check into bootstrap or foundation which makes your website fully responsive and mobile view friendly as well.

Hope that helps!.

That sounds like a good approach James - thanks for the input!
