Java Java Objects (Retired) Harnessing the Power of Objects Handling Exceptions

handling exceptions

So I am trying to catch the exception, but the error that pops up does not help me at all. Here is the error: ./Main.java:8: error: 'catch' without 'try' catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) { ^ please help.

Main.java
public class Main {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        GoKart kart = new GoKart("yellow");
        if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
          System.out.println("The battery is empty");
        }
        kart.drive(2);
      catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
        System.out.println("stop!");
        System.out.printf("The error was: %s\n", iae.getMessage());
      }
    }
}

You did the "catch" but forgot about the "try". The error tells you specifically what is needed.

It should look like this,

public class Main {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        GoKart kart = new GoKart("yellow");
        try {
          if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
            System.out.println("The battery is empty");
          }
          kart.drive(2);
       }
        catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
           System.out.println("stop!");
           System.out.printf("The error was: %s\n", iae.getMessage());
        }
    }
}

I cant believe i missed that, thank you.
