Front End Web Development Techdegree Student 10,462 PointsHas anyone gotten a job after completing the Front-end Development Path?
I have been developing for the web since 2009 right now I am 23 years old and I really want a job in this field without taking another 4 years of University. Other words student debt isn't fun. Has anyone had success with this option? I think I might do well but need to be sure

Courses Plus Student 18,373 PointsWell, I don't know how it is in your country but in mine (France), your 8 years developing (even if it's by yourself) is a great experience and is really valuable (almost as much as professional experience). Did you try to apply to some jobs/interview ?
For your question, I don't think the Front-End track is enough by itself to got a job, but you have some dev personal experience.

Courses Plus Student 18,373 PointsTreehouse delivers certificate for the techdregree plan, not the normal and pro plans. For the portfolio, I understand what you mean. But in fact, at an interview, the person you'll face, will see if you what you're talking about.
In France it's common to have some technical test(s) to pass, which generally enforce your skills. If I take my case, I don't have any portfolio, I just know what I'm talking about ;)

And if you do well they hire you on the spot? That is awesome I wish Canada was like that. Everything here is more like do you have a Degree, Diploma ok here is the job. They never really test whether or not you know what you are supposed to know.

You can check for Teamtreehouse Techdegree plan. I see you're qualified like participe in this plan. I believe there is a certificate at the end. But i'm not sure.

Front End Web Development Techdegree Student 10,462 PointsYa in Canada I can get a job pretty easily same with the USA, but I need a portfolio. I wish I kept most of my coding projects when I was younger up until now. Even with that much experience I still need some documents that say that I know what I am doing right? So Teamtreehouse probably gives a certificate for that I guess. Even when I finish the front-end development with my ruby on rails knowledge I will probably get a job hopefully. I haven't applied for jobs yet I will though once I finish the techdegree
