13,965 PointsHas anyone tried making website demos and then approaching local businesses?
Hi guys,
I'm looking to take on some small side projects during my free time.
I was thinking about going local to find jobs.
My idea was find businesses in my local area that don't have a website and then create a quick homepage with a logo and put it on a server and then send them an E-mail showing them the demo asking them if they're interested in buying.
I can imagine freelancing is tough, I don't particularly want to go around the town and pitch everywhere as it's just for a few side projects to spend my free time.
Anyone done this and what are your experiences?
Thanks

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 11,127 PointsHi Joe,
I've though about doing that myself. The only hesitation I've had is that perhaps sending unsolicited emails to people could be a bit sales-y and unwanted. I imagine you could get round that by phrasing it in the right way though.
Anyway, can't give you any advice as I've not done it yet. But I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone's experience.
All the best,
Ede
