Having a hard time updating to Xcode 7.1

I've tried to update Xcode to 7.1 and the app store shows I downloaded over 3 gb of data, but I couldn't run the update. Thereafter when I go to the Xcode page "update" is no longer available. I checked my Xcode version and its' still stuck at 7.0.1. What should I do to install Xcode 7.1?

I'm still working on the "Build a Playlist Browser" class but have been running into bugs after Xcode 7.1 is made available. Could it be due to the Xcode version?

In case anyone else ran into the same issue - I uninstalled Xcode 7.0.1 and download 7.1 from Mac App Store. Xcode 7.1 is now running fine.
