I suppose you want your images to fill the width of a container? In that case you need to use width: 100%; instead of max-width. The latter will only be 100% if your image is larger than your container, otherwise it will show with the real dimensions of your image.

Not sure if it will make a difference, but you have a stray hash (#) after your header selector in the HEADING section of your CSS.
