HTML How to Make a Website Customizing Colors and Fonts Use Color in CSS

Header color not changing

Hello, I'm at the point in the video tutorial where we change the header color. I copied the code they used. However, my color did not change. Does anyone know why? Here's the CSS followed by a portion of the html:

a {
  text-decoration: none;
}

#wrapper {
  max-width: 940px;
  margin: 0 auto;
  padding: 0 5%;
}

#logo {
  text-align: center;
  margin: 0;
}

a {
  color: #6ab47b;
  }

header {
  background: #6ab47b;
  border-color: #599a68;
}
HTML:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Martha Sander | Cynic</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css.normalize">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css.main">
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html" id="logo">
      <h1>Martha Sander</h1>
      <h2>Designer, Chef, Rat Trainer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>
  <div id="wrapper">

Well, it turned my html code into two links, so I guess that wasn't very helpful in explaining the problem.

You linked it to 'css.main', but it should be 'main.css'.

The file extension always goes last.

<link rel="stylesheet" href="main.css">

Hi Joshua, try background-color instead

Should be a relative file. href= "css/main.css". it needs to find the css folder first then the main .css file.
