Your problem is here:

import "UIViewController.h"

import "UIButton.h"

@interface ViewController : UIViewController

@property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *timerButton; ---->>>> [self.timerButton setTitle:@"Start!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; @end

Method call should not have be in header files. Place it in viewDidLoad and everything will be fine :-)
