58 PointsHelp at treehouse, urgent problem!
Interacting with Treehouse Forum (generally) Treehouse server decided to activate a module of Windows 8.1 called Mail, Calendar and People. Specifically, Mail was opened and my access was enabled... incorrectly. It was great that Mail finally connected to my ISP's mail server. But Mail is not ready for that, yet.
Now, Microsoft and Shaw engineers have both made unsuccessful attempts to get Mail working safely. So kudos to Treehouse for... something? But the Treehouse effort involved launching a virtual copy of what used to be my local HKUSER S-key into... who-knows-where. Treehouse, maybe? Hopefully.
Worse, when I tried to get a handle on my router that went hyper-mode as soon as Treehouse made my Registry public domain (or whatever domain it disappeared into). I was locked out of WindowsApps folder, where Mail resides (in it's multi-file, Cloud dependent format. Accessing WindowsApps, I had to create an already existing Administrators account, Which hauled down a virtual S-key from wherever it was stashed. Unfortunately, no longer owning my system, my Registry now exists wherever the S-key went (hopefully all in one place and not... everywhere). In any case, I am still an Administrator, but S-keys have taken over. I am forever locked out of my own real system Registry access.
Kudos to all, no doubt sharing this note with Treehouse today. Maybe we can all work together to find a way to patch the big HUGE security hole that Treehouse Forums has blown through my firewall. Does that 'firewall' exist any more? Without a Registry, that might be difficult to verify.
So dear help at Treehouse dot com, I am off to stripe down what 'we' have totaled. Wow, Netanyahu on news just decalred the International Criminal Court a farce. It never rains, it pours. Do indeed fix whatever global can of worms you kicked over (you lucky people). Lots of fun with Microsoft there. Khalid Parkar at Microsoft Research may be able to point you in the right direction (VSS and Volume cloud storage). Otherwise, no more from here.
