Hi, lighten is a function, so you need to apply it to the 'a' tag with the other variables inside try:

This will pass:

style.css
a {
   color: lighten(red, 5%);
}

Your code modified is now valid... will pass as well:

style.css

$text-color: lighten(#ff0000, 5%);

a {
   color: $text-color;
}
