Help with Challenge Task 1 of 2

I figured the answer for challenge 1 of 2 that asks to create a new variable named "numWidth". However it took me some time to figure it out.

Why is it that the correct answer has numWidth declared as a variable with no var in front of it? If I put var numWidth, it doesn't pass.

I passed it with the var keyword.
