Help with clients

Hello my brother and I have set up a design agency called Brothers In Design. We are struggling to gain clients !!!!

Take a look at our website (http://brothersindesign.com/) Can you see any problems.

Also has anyone got any advice ?

Biggest problem: Your site takes absolutely forever to load past "Welcome", and once the arrow appears to bring me down, the very large image takes forever as well.

"Forever" = at least 1 - 2 minutes, which I would consider much too long.

As for clients, I'm not exactly sure since I've never worked in web design. I'd have to say that you should go looking, and have a good portfolio to showcase your work. Offer to build websites for local businesses for free, or for a low price, simply to get some publicity and solid work for said portfolio.

Thats strange you must have a very slow internet connection the site even loads fast on my mobile phone.

I can't see your site as it keeps timing out,

But assuming it is designed well

My advice would be to get it put on decent hosting (I recommend vidahost cloud - VIDA452 will get you 10% off) great cus service and amazing performance,

Then sign upto seo moz and optimise your website to rank for webdesign (your local area) you can get a 60 day trial of moz as a perk of being a treehouse member in fact so defiantly worth taking advantage of. Great community on there to learn too! Also a great upsell to clients once you master it.

Potentially check out google Adwords for some instant traffic too - just make sure you read up on it first and target locally - and google for ( Adwords vouchers) plenty of £75 vouchers around on the web to get you started.

And also see if there's any local business networking groups, BNI is a good one, and just get your self known :)

And I say it again, use decent hosting! It will cause all kinds of support headaches once you begin to get customers and they are pestering you all weekend because their site is down!

This is very strange, could it be our host? It is with Godaddy.com The site works fine with no issues at home, it also works when I tested it once away from home with no issue. I also get it when using it over my phones signal.

Could it be godaddy? This seems like a big issue. Worse thing is for clients to give us a chance to find out that our website does not work

How long has your site been set up? I've just pinged the domain and it's not going anywhere, if it's a new site then DNS may not have propagated fully, http://tools.pingdom.com/ping/?target=http://www.brothersindesign.com&o=2&save=true

Although if you're with go daddy, their name server has probably died, move now is all the advice I'm giving on that one :)
