Help with Terminal. It won't install Sass

I tried installing Sass by using both "gem install sass" and "sudo gem install sass" but when I double checked it by using "sass -v", it didn't return "Sass 3.2.12 (Media Mark)". The only thing I got was "unknownd8a25e9731c1:~ jeesunikim$ "

I played with terminal while I was learning console on Treehouse.

I would appreciate any help.

Do you have ruby installed on your machine? Or Rubygems?
