help with using 'break' in python

I am not understanding the logic and was hoping someone could help explain what I am doing wrong. Thank you!

breaks.py 
def loopy(items):
    for item in items:
        print(item)
    if items == 'STOP':
        break

The if statement needs to be inside the for loop. Also, your if should be before the print.

def loopy(items):
    for item in items:
        if item == 'STOP':
            break    
        print(item)
