Help with vertex

I need help to understand what is happening in the video starting from 0:45. I do as the video tells me but when I try to move one of the corners, the whole object moves. I've tried this so many times, but the outcome is always the same.

Is the video unclear or am I just missing something?

Hi Mikko-

Have you been able to resolve this issue? Make sure that you are in the default object selection mode first (this should be the default setting). Object selection mode can be activated by clicking on the icon just below the "Mesh" menu at the top of the Maya UI. The object mode icon is an arrow over a blue square and white circle.

Once object mode has been activated, you should be able to hover your mouse over an object, and hold down the right-mouse button to display a component selection menu. Drag the mouse to "Vertex" to activate vertex selection. Then, you'll be able to select and move individual vertices.

Hope that helps, Jason

Thanks for the answer Jason. The thing that made everything work for me tho was just pressing B (toggles Soft Mode on and off).
