I'm just trying out the Alexa skill stuff for the first time and upon login into the Alexa developer console, things seem to have changed and I'm confused how to go about it.

The learning resources from Amazon Alexa here are pretty good and more likely to be up to date. It might be a better strategy to do these first and come back to Treehouse for a second perspective.
It can be hard to do a tutorial at the beginner stage when the layout isn't the same as what you're looking at. But once you're a little bit familiar with the product, watching a tutorial that's a little out of date but has some good insights is still helpful.
