When you are ready to hire people for commission sales, do you hire an employee or an independent contractor? What is safer legally?

Are you really asking for legal advice from a bunch of students?

Dave has an excellent point, this may not be the best venue to seek legal advice. But legal issues aside, I've always thought that contractors were best used for tasks of limited duration.

Something like a sales position that would be an ongoing part of the operation seems like it would be more suited to a permanent employee.
