hover off

what's the method for hover off? $(".navbar-collapse li").hover(function(){$(this).css('background-color', 'red')}) like after I am done with hovering I want the color to get back to its normal

Well, you could add a second handler to deal with the "un-hover" (mouseout) event:

$(".navbar-collapse li").hover(function(){$(this).css('background-color', 'red')},
    function(){$(this).css('background-color', '')}
);

But why not use CSS? You can replace all that JavaScript with this, and it automatically reverses when hover ends:

.navbar-collapse li:hover { background-color: red; }
