Python

how can can i extrapolate objects with same prefix from multiple rows?

i have a python workbook with 2560 rows. Each row has variables/strings/objects, where an object with the same prefix (GSE) but the suffix has different numbers in different rows. For eg: first row will have GSE235 and second row will have GSE2435. How can I extrapolate only the GSE prefic object from all the rows and make a separate list?
