How can I do this legally?

I would like to make a website like kickstarter. I don't want it to be a crowd funding site and it is completely unrelated to kickstarter. I particularly like this part:

https://www.kickstarter.com/discover?ref=nav

I got some advice to just use a clone site or an open source site but I don't know if they is legal or not. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks so much!

Exactly what part do you want to re-create? The squares in the background.....The squares that change color and text when you hover over them? The project of the day section? The Whats popular section? What part???

I -think- he's talking about category navigation. But if it's just that specific part then that is probably something you can create yourself just doing the courses here on treehouse. I'm getting a little confused here :)

If you're referring to my post it wasn't my intention to advice using a clone site, just to point out that the price depends on who you're dealing with and your expectations in regards to quality.

Can you confirm that it is the category navigation, the rectangles with arts, comics, crafts etc, which changes color and text when you hover over each item that you're talking about? Is that the only part you want to be able to recreate on your own site?
