How can slices be used on production apps?

For example I have a social media application. Are slices something I would need to know in order to make a social media application, or is this something for niche uses? What are examples of slices in productions uses?

Slices are a fundamental method to create or reference sublists or make copies from one list to another. It's possible to avoid using slices in the short term but you'll need them eventually on more complicated tasks.
