I have always wondered how to do this, and now I have to do it but don't know how. Could anyone help?

If you have downloaded the project files from a treehouse video, you should open index.html (drag it to browser window or right click > open with > Firefox/Chrome/Internet Explorer to view the project.
You can also open .js, .css, .php, .html and many other files in a text editor. Text editors are covered in this section of the Build a simple website project.
I suggest you work your way through the web design track to begin with.
