JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

How do you add two different .toUpperCase variables to combine? Ex. "23188XTR# + SMITH"

im stuck here.. i cant figure out how to add these to variables together where all of them are uppercase. Whats wrong with my code?

var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = (id.toUpperCase());
username += '#' + (lastName.toUpperCase());

thanks dale for pointing that out! although the code still doesnt work even after fixing userName...

Note that on the task there is an 'important note' that reads :-Important: In each task of this code challenge, the code you write should be added to the code from the previous task. This simply requires you to solve it this way

var userName = id.toUpperCase()+'#'+lastName .toUpperCase();

It should add to the earlier code. I believe this will help you out. Regards,
