Hi Ashford,

String objects have a lot of methods that can be called, one of which is charAt, which accepts a number as the index value into the string.

String fruit = "Apple";

fruit.charAt(0); // 'A'

Also, Craig provides a really good tip that characters can be compared using > and <.

if ('a' < 'b') {
  System.out.println("Yep, 'a' comes before 'b'");
}
