How do you create simple animations like you see in Treehouse videos?

I'm referring to animations like the bike pedals turning in the trailer video below (13th second): https://teamtreehouse.com/library/objectoriented-php-basics-retired.

Im not sure what they use, but in general you are looking for software used for animation elearn design or instructional design. Some examples:

Probably Adobe After Effects.

Is an amazing software for doing simple and complex stuff. you can check out a site called Video Copilot, it's all free tutorials and you can see the true power of After Effects.
