How do you duplicate what the instructor is doing?

I'm having a hard time duplicating what the instructor is doing on his end. Is there a way to use Workspaces to duplicate this? I've tried opening up a Javascript file, but the console at the bottom doesn't seem to update along with what I'm typing in at the top. The preview function just loads it as an HTML file (I think) and then Chrome's developer tools seem confused and don't register anything. Any help would be much appreciated!

They usually put a copy of everything they are doing in the video inside the Project files under Downloads. Also I would try using a different browsers if Chrome seems to be confused.
