How does the Javascript module pattern (or closure) fit in with AngularJS?

I watched The Module Pattern in Javascript workshop video and was wondering how all this fits in an AngularJS project.

Do Angular's dependency injection and module patterns make this obsolete or is it still useful to use some of these patterns?

Bonus points: How can projects that use both plain JavaScript and AngularJS make use of these patterns?
