How is Python slow? And does this affect web apps created using Django?

Hi all!

I've been really curious about Python for a while, but there is one thing that always nags my mind when I am about to start learning it. "Python is really slow", so how slow is Python?

I would use Python to create web apps using Django/Flask, how would these apps be affected by Python being slow?

Among the bigger companies/apps that use this technology we have Instagram, one of the biggest apps in the world. So can it really be that slow?

Thanks in advance for any insight!
