How should SVG images be implemented?

I can't seem to find any articles that explain how SVG images should be implemented into the page via CSS?

I know how to add a JPEG via CSS but not SVG is there any difference?

Use them just the same as jpeg or png. The difference is not about how you add them to your page, but the fact that they're scalable. More info here.
